Apparently we like torturing ourselves, because even though we have never been able to finish an ORC on time, we still signed up for another one! The Spring 2022 One Room Challenge is an 8-week design challenge that will be highlighting hundreds of guest participants that contribute via their blogs & instagram. This is also the 10th anniversary of the challenge, so it's a special one. This time around we will be tackling our basement bathroom.
Our basement is currently such a catastrophe, that I can’t even access that area at the moment to photograph the before, but clean-up & demo happens this week!!!
This bathroom will be the one that people use when they are in our backyard/pool, so it needs to be functional with lots of storage & have a place to sit and change, but I want it to feel like a serene spa bathroom, one that really pulls elements from the beach that we are surrounded by. I think the Impression door & vanity fronts in Beach from Semihandmade paired with the Kenridge White Ribbon tile (a white washed wood look) & Lovina White Micro Pebble tile frome TileBar will achieve that flawlessly. Mix it all up with creamy white Tadelakt (Moroccan plaster) walls, natural woven elements & brass fixtures/finishes and I’m pretty sure that this will become my favorite hideout in the house. Can't wait to see it come to life!
This bathroom will need to be re-framed with the plumbing re-done as well to add an ejector pump, so lots of breaking up concrete (we have a lot of experience with this after the front & back yards haha)! We will be adding a window centered on the back wall that will actually be about a foot off of our back wall (hard to explain) so that we can bring in some natural light. The wall on the right side will have an Ikea hack full-height storage cabinet with a floating bench for changing before/after pool & storing all of the fun necessities.
Don't forget to follow along every week to check-in on the progress of all of the other participants!
